The Role
As Project Manager you will be tasked with managing a new residential project in Langley, BC as well as assisting in the management of other EDGAR developments. EDGAR utilizes the services of external General Contractors to manage the construction of their projects, and this will therefore be an owner’s representative project management position. You will provide overall management, administration, and technical direction to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the project.
You have a minimum of 5 years of construction experience in Metro Vancouver. Ideally you have some experience working with a General Contractor but candidates from a Developer will also be considered. You will have a proven track record of managing multifamily projects start to finish. You are comfortable working with or leading diverse teams of design and construction professionals through the design, pre-construction, and construction phases.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide accurate construction cost data and estimates for new and existing projects
• Attend team meetings during design and pre-construction process to ensure project stays within its intended scope and budget
• Ensure project is built using a ‘value engineering’ approach while achieving the architectural standard set out by EDGAR
• Oversee tendering and award of the general contractor, sub-trade, and/or supplier contracts
• Engage and oversee consultant team for each project
• Review tenant leases and be the tenant liaison during construction
• Provide day-to-day management during construction and monitor on-site progress
• Monitor, maintain and report on project’s design, budget, and schedule
• Ensure the delivery of projects on time and under budget
• Maintain professional relationships with general contractors, trades, consultants, and suppliers
• Demonstrate awareness of EDGAR’s market presence, industry trends, and competitors
• Support the Vice President, Construction and Project Director in any capacity including assisting with acquisitions and development
Qualifications
• Minimum five (5) years of senior coordinator/project management experience in residential and commercial construction. Wood frame experience is preferable.
• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction/Project Management or equivalent
• Thorough knowledge of construction methods and industry practices
• Skilled negotiator
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Proactive, self-starter and problem solver
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Desire and ability to work well in a collaborative small office environment
• Excellent computer skills including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint) and project management software
The successful candidate will join a progressive developer with a track record of successful projects in British Columbia and Alberta. You will work out of a well-appointed office in downtown Vancouver on an expanding portfolio of interesting large-scale developments. Compensation
$110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
